In case you haven’t already noticed, the website is still up and running, albeit with a different look. I had previously announced the website would be taken down on a certain date, since that was what all my e-mails kept telling me (if you don’t renew, your domain expires on X date). Well that date came and went, then I kept getting those same e-mails (LAST CHANCE!!). After about a week with it still up and running, continuing to get “last chance” e-mails and already struggling with the idea of it being taken down forever, I decided to seek alternative ways to keep it running at a lower cost.
So here we are! Now those of you who follow the blog may have noticed there had been quite a long period of no recipes (until my most recent post of the salted caramel cookie deliciousness, found here). I will be trying to post recipes regularly(ish), at least once every couple of weeks, hopefully more frequently.
Also, in that long gap of time I was able to get my digestive issues mostly under control, allowing me to branch out and not adhere to such a strict diet. With that said, though, I know the blog was doing a lot of good for people out there who have IBS and GERD/acid reflux and have no clue what to eat (or at least what to eat that isn’t going to be something sad and awful) so I will be doing recipes all over the spectrum, but definitely continuing to post recipes that are safe for IBS and GERD. These will be delicious, flavorful recipes certainly not intended solely for those with these digestive issues so stick around even if you don’t have these issues.
The recipes that will be IBS/Reflux safe will all be adhering to the Low FODMAP eating plan laid out by Monash University. I have paid for the app so have access to all the information, including what foods are safe (and/or in what quantities foods are safe) and will be using that, along with my knowledge of common GERD trigger foods, to continue creating recipes safe for both of these conditions.
In fact, I already have a list with numerous IBS and GERD-safe recipes I’m excited to try out and post for you all, including but not limited to the following:
- Salmon Florentine Baked Potatoes
- Roasted Butternut Squash and Pumpkin Soup
- Parmesan & Paprika Mayonnaise Crusted Chicken
- Spinach and Artichoke Stuffed Zucchini
I will also be posting a recipe this weekend for sure that will show youhow to make your own garlic-infused oil (an essential item for anyone with IBS!)
In addition, I’ll continue to post regular recipes and, when possible, indicate on those recipes how they could be modified for those with IBS or GERD. I do love my sweets, though, so beware: there will be numerous baked goods posted which will not be safe for these conditions. Those recipes that are tummy friendly will all be categorized under “tummy friendly” and will also be tagged with their respective digestion-friendly characteristics (IBS Friendly, Low FODMAP, Lactose Free, etc. etc.), so if you search by category or tag, you’ll be able to find the recipes that work for you. Those recipes that are not digestion friendly will have an indication in the posts (directly under the image at the top, and directly before the recipe itself) in big bold letters letting you know they are not safe for those of you with digestion issues.
I hope to provide a little of something for everyone on here, with recipes ranging from digestion-friendly to decadent indulgences. Thanks to all of you that have stuck around and I look forward to gaining new followers as well!
