The boozy desserts continued this weekend with these Dark Chocolate Red Wine Brownies.
These are absolutely my new favorite brownies and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to go back to the non-booze variety.
Red wine and espresso powder in baking amplifies and intensifies chocolate flavor, without necessarily adding wine or espresso flavors. So the brownies themselves do not taste like either the wine or espresso but they have a sublimely rich chocolatey flavor. The red wine ganache frosting on the other hand has an amazing blend of chocolate and red wine flavors. It’s smooth and velvety and completely delicious!
Paired with the brownies, it’s almost too much to handle. Seriously. When cutting the brownies, the struggle was real to not eat the entire pan myself. I kept creating “scraps” for myself to eat! 😂
I’ll be taking in half of the pan to work tomorrow, to help make Monday a bit easier to handle. 😉 The other half, however, are staying right here with me, and Ilya has been warned to stay away from them if he knows what’s good for him.
Don’t feel too bad for him, though. We still have quite a few of the Pumpkin Bourbon Pecan Pie Cupcakes and Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie Cupcakes left. A house full of boozy desserts. It’s truly a wonderful place to be. And now we are prepared to handle election day, which is sure to be a stressful day regardless of whom you’re voting for.
I recommend everyone make a batch of these red wine brownies to help get through election day. Have a glass of red wine with your brownie(s) too and you’re good to go. The election craziness will seem much less disturbing if you have a brownie in one hand and a glass of wine in the other!
